The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution reads,

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

But what exactly does that mean, and how does it apply to us in the District? Join us on Wednesday, November 15th at 6:00 pm as our Executive Director, Monica Hopkins, sits down with Staff Attorney Michael Perloff and Senior Counsel Art Spitzer to talk about our First Amendment rights, how the ACLU of D.C. has protected them in the past, and the current challenges we’re facing.

This virtual event is free and open to the public. Closed Captioning and ASL interpretation will be provided.
