The denial of statehood to the 700,000 people of D.C. is an example of egregious voter suppression in our country. Join an important national panel discussion on Thursday, September 23 at 5:30pm ET / 2:30pm PT with experts to discuss the racist roots of denying D.C. residents statehood rights, parallels between voter suppression in the state of Georgia and D.C., and how lack of statehood continues to harm communities in D.C. today.

• Andrea Young, Executive Director, ACLU of Georgia 
• Jamal Holtz, Lead Advocate for D.C. Statehood, 51 for 51 
• Monica Hopkins, Executive Director, ACLU of the District of Columbia 

All ACLU-DC members are invited to this year's annual membership meeting at 6:00pm on September 29. We will give general updates on our organization, our recent work, and future priorities, including presentations from programmatic departments. Our legal department will review some of our cases from the last year, while our policy department will share legislative wins and updates on our work with advocacy coalitions.
