We represented eight young protesters who were unjustifiably drenched with pepper spray by D.C. police at the 2005 Inaugural Parade. Videotape shows the police spraying them right through a high chain link fence that separated them from a viewing area that was itself a block from the parade. After discovery, we settled the case when DC agreed to institute detailed new procedures governing the use of pepper spray during demonstrations, and to pay our clients $225,000 in damages.
